Angela B. Duncan, PhD



Angela B. Duncan, PhD is a licensed psychologist in Kansas. She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas and completed her internship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Her dissertation investigated the impact of health-related quality of life on health behavior change and adherence to weight loss treatment. She has extensive training in motivational interviewing for a broad range of patient populations. Dr. Duncan completed post-doctoral training in mental health research incorporating technology and was also Assistant Director of research and scholarship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Also at the University of Kansas Medical Center, she completed postdoctoral integrative medicine training regarding nutritional factors and health. Dr. Duncan currently teaches clinical and health-focused psychology courses, including motivational interviewing, and engages in part-time clinical practice.

Her broad clinical and research interests include using empirically supported mind and behavior strategies to prevent chronic illness and promote healthy living as well as capitalizing on the use of technology for health promotion. In addition, she advocates for ethical practice in healthcare and medicine. Dr. Duncan has a passion for an integrative approach to health that focuses on using less invasive approaches first such as powerful nutrition and sustainable behavior change to cultivate a life of health and happiness. Her health psychology specialization focuses on behavioral weight loss, stress management, sleep hygiene, nutritional mental health, and complementary/alternative therapies.
